The Common Daisy, Lawn Daisy or occasionally English daisy
For a couple of years now, I've been occasionally venturing out into the garden, or the green outside my house to wade through the grass on my quest find the prettiest, and most interesting daisies.
I've been frowned at, questioned, second guessed, and looked on with a general air of disgust.
But I don't get it? Why? Why do people hate daisies so much? Yeah, they grow through our neatly kept lawns, making it look untidy, but we don't mind when a crocus or snowdrop pops up.
When you was young, you made daisy chains, right? You ran around in summer picking them. They were fun back then. What changed that?
People love to get flowers, what sets daisies apart? huh?
I've made it my quest to save the face of the common daisy.
Yeah, it grows on its own, where it wants, normally in our lawn, popping up normally the day after we've mowed, but its what it does best!
Nobody takes the time to actually look at them. People buy ox eye daisies; Leucanthemum vulgare. They're just big common daisies.
My quest will take me into dangerous, unchartered teritories. The wilderness of the Lychgate Green. The dense forrest that is my back garden. And various other overly dramatised areas. All to take close up, personal portraits of these teeny weenie flowers that we seem to despise to much.
To check out what I've captured so far, check out the Project: Daisy gallery, here.
Keep checkin' back for more randomness.
ttfn.
Matt.
