Living only a matter of minutes away from the beach, the coast is always my first location for inspiration.
The constantly changing landscape provides a wealth of photo opportunities in all seasons, from colourful summer sunsets to stormy winter seas, no location ever looks the same twice.

With such a wide range of varying landscapes easily accessible to me, it was inevitable that landscape photography would become a real passion of mine.
With crop rotations, the changing of the seasons, and the unsettled weather of the south coast, stunning shots are always achievable if looked for hard enough.

High Dynamic Range/HDR photography is a digital technique which usesspecially designed computer software [Photomatix, Photoshop, Artizen]to combine multiple exposures of the same scene to digitally expand the dynamic range, [range of tones and shades in an image] to create an image with details in both the highlights and shadows similar to which can be observed in the real world.

DCMagazine HDR Shoot
Back in December of 2007, Ben Birchall,then of Digital Camera Magazine asked if I'd like to do a tutorial of my way of shooting High Dynamic Range/HDR photography.
So in Febuary of 2008, Ben, Andy Platt, Simon Moore and myself, set off for a day of shooting around my local coastline, and visited a couple of local churches, one of which was gracious enough to let us explore inside.
These are my favourite shots of the day.

Panoramics
Since starting in photography I've always been fascinated by panoramic images. I love the wide crop, the detail and the general feel of the images. All of my panoramic images are created from multiple single images, and stitched together either using Photoshop CS4's 'Photomerge' tool or the dedicated application Autopano Pro. Although I one day hope to be able to afford a dedicated panoramic camera... watch this space!
